Week 1

Production Diary- Week 1

This week i was introduction to the clip i will be using for the Soundtrack production unit, the clip was a scene from the 1999 film ‘The Matrix.’ I completed a storyboard for the clip, stating all the soundtracks and sounds I’m going to use on the clip. I began adding a wild track to the clip, using background sounds such as room tones, the city and wind. I then started on a gun track, where i collected sounds for the gun shoots in the clip.

The background sounds worked well on the clip, the sounds fitted the clip sounded professional. The gun track was difficult to create as there are many gun uses in the clip and it was difficult the match the sounds to the visuals, to make to clip look believable. Another problem occurred when the characters using the gun are not on screen or in the camera view,  so i couldn’t see how many shoots were was performed. At the end of the week i was able to match the gun sounds to the visuals and was able to make an accurate assumption on how many gun shoots sounds to use when the characters are not present on screen.
